A better version of Apple's Siri may not be coming as soon as expected.

The new Siri slated for release next year may have a problem: it's not that good.

Apple has reportedly considered acquiring a company such as Perplexity AI, and has also weighed seeking assistance from Google. Currently, many Apple Intelligence features depend on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Apple’s efforts to replace it with its own Siri have not yet been successful.

Apple must now make a decision, either investing more resources into improving Siri, or allowing another company to manage it. The company was late in embracing AI, and is now dealing with the results.

The new Siri version must be released next year.

In my view, the updated Siri should be released on schedule next year, regardless of whether it is fully refined. Apple cannot afford to wait to match Google’s Gemini, and needs to demonstrate progress with Siri.

Siri has faced considerable criticism, even before Apple began working to improve it. Releasing the improved version that is already available and developing it further is the least the company can do.
