A company was caught using stock photos to represent the camera capabilities of its upcoming Phone (3).

Once again, professional stock photos were used in promoting the capabilities of a smartphone camera.
A photo of a round headlight was posted on Roman Fox's Instagram. He told Android Authority that Nothing purchased the photo, which he shot in 2023 using a Fujifilm XH2s camera. The Nothing Phone (3) launched earlier this year.
Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis addressed the Phone (3) live demo units (LDU) in some stores using stock imagery in a statement on X. He explained that the stock images on the demo units were placeholders that should have been replaced. The initial LDU version was submitted with the stock images approximately four months prior, he stated, calling the situation "an unfortunate oversight" that Nothing is working to correct.
In another tweet, Evangelidis mentioned that Nothing previously used photos taken with older models as placeholder images. He considers the change in this process to be an error.
It is still unclear why Nothing would license stock photos that it never planned to make public. While this is not the first instance of a smartphone company using fake photo examples, it is hoped that it will be the last.
In other news, Nothing has been working on a special project for the past year and will release it in a few months. "Iconic Phones: Revolution at Your Fingertips" is a coffee table book that will take tech enthusiasts on a journey through the 21st century's technological revolution.
