A Focus on Pro
The foldable iPhone is expected to be the star of the show at the 2026 iPhone launch. Not only will it be Apple's first foldable phone, but it may also be released with only the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. According to reports, Apple intends to use a staggered release plan, with the standard versions arriving in early 2027.
Compared to the Pro variants, which begin at $1,099, the iPhone Fold may not seem as incredibly costly. This is in contrast to how it might be perceived if it were introduced alongside a base model costing $799.
Because of the complicated design, the iPhone Fold could lack features that Apple's premium customers have grown accustomed to, like Face ID and a triple-lens back camera system.
Given all of this, Apple might be pushing its luck with this strategy.
