As a former iPhone loyalist who shifted to Android in 2025, I still value certain iPhone features, particularly MagSafe. Like many iPhone users, I have accumulated numerous MagSafe accessories such as portable chargers, car mounts, wallets, and stands.
To utilize my MagSafe accessories with Android devices, I have always had to purchase a third-party MagSafe case for each Android phone I used. Whether it was the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, or the Vivo X200 Pro, a case was always a necessary initial purchase from online retailers.
The primary reason for this is that MagSafe is unparalleled, and Android lacked a native alternative.
The Pixel 10 series introduces PixelSnap, which uses the Qi2 standard. Unlike some previous Qi2-ready Android phones, Google's latest models include internal magnets. This allows for fast and easy attachment of Pixelsnap and MagSafe accessories directly to the phone’s back.
This feature is built-in, so a Pixelsnap case is not required. You can use the Pixel 10 without a case, though a case is still recommended.
Android has finally developed its own solution to MagSafe, though it is not a competing standard. It is the result of a collaboration between Apple and the Wireless Power Consortium to synchronize MagSafe and the Qi standard in 2023.
Since then, I have been waiting for Android devices to include Qi2 with built-in magnets, which would allow me to use my preferred accessories without needing third-party cases.
Does this make me eager for the Pixel 10 series? Absolutely!
Initially, the Pixel 10 rumors did not excite me. However, as soon as I heard about Pixelsnap, I began paying close attention. Once I reviewed the confidential materials and confirmed that Pixelsnap was real, I knew it would be the Pixel 10 series' defining feature, overshadowing even Magic Cue and Pro Res Zoom.
