A major brand is reportedly developing a competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold phone.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold launch may have prompted one of its rivals to enter the tri-fold market.

Based on previous design leaks, Xiaomi's design will resemble the Huawei Mate XT. That phone has one display with a folding feature that keeps part of it visible when closed. Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold uses an alternative design, adding an external screen.
A foldable competition is coming in the near future.
If the reports prove accurate, Xiaomi might enter the tri-fold market around the same time Apple is anticipated to release the iPhone Fold. Samsung will likely maintain its typical summer release schedule for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, around the start of the third quarter.
Xiaomi is also said to be developing two more foldable devices, potentially for release in early 2026. The Xiaomi 17 Fold would use a book-style design, while the Xiaomi Mix Flip 3 might be the flip model. Both could be aimed toward productivity users and dedicated fans.
The year of the foldable is approaching.
After Samsung debuted the Galaxy Z series years ago, many manufacturers seem ready to make foldable smartphones more common. While the concept is appealing, widespread consumer adoption may depend on addressing the high costs.
