A major upgrade previously considered for the Galaxy S26 Ultra is now being re-evaluated.

After a number of conflicting recent reports, the latest word on the street about the Galaxy S26 Ultra's charging speeds is... relatively encouraging.
Many Galaxy S26 Ultra details may be set, but will remain unconfirmed for months before the official unveiling alongside the S26 Pro and S26 Edge.
Some specifications are easier to predict, such as charging capabilities on Samsung's top-tier phones. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, S23 Ultra, S24 Ultra, and S25 Ultra were limited to 45W charging, which was reasonable in 2022 but less impressive now.
There was anticipation that Samsung would upgrade to 60W charging. However, a document suggested the S26 Ultra would not offer improvements.
Yet, @UniverseIce, also known as "PhoneArt," has "confirmed again" that Samsung's early 2026 flagship will upgrade from 45W to 60W charging. Although not definitively settled, there is hope for this upgrade.
To be clear, 60W charging is not a major advancement. It is unlikely to match the OnePlus 13's 100W or Motorola Edge 50 Pro's 125W charging, not to mention the rumored 120W charging of the upcoming OnePlus 15.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra review showed a charging time of 69 minutes. If the Galaxy S26 Ultra retains the same 5,000mAh battery, charging time could be under an hour.
While Samsung is unlikely to top any fastest-charging lists in 2026, any improvement will likely please loyal fans, as the OnePlus 13 can charge from zero to full in 43 minutes.
Moreover, the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge may increase charging speeds from 25W to 45W, contingent on the S26 Ultra supporting 60W. That would significantly improve these phones, helping them compete in the 2026 Android market.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra might not differ drastically from the S25 Ultra, which isn't necessarily negative.
The battery size will likely remain the same, but the phone's thickness may decrease to below 8mm. Additionally, there could be improvements to screen quality, a "Privacy Display" feature, and camera upgrades.
The Exynos rumor is a concern, as it could overshadow other refinements. It is believed that Samsung will maintain its relationship with Qualcomm, although anything is possible during this stage of development.
