A new phone called the P-Phone is suggested as a useful secondary device.

The P-Phone will keep you going using Wi-Fi when your daily driver is unavailable.
With the P-Phone, you don't need a SIM card or wireless plan. It lacks social media apps, but includes these features:
Make calls using your regular phone number.
Access your contacts.
Sync images to your primary phone.
Offers Find My iPhone and Android support.
No apps need to be downloaded.
Setting up the P-Phone involves three steps. The concept is to purchase the phone before your main device is lost, stolen, broken, or stops working:
Download the P Phones app to your main device.
Sign in to your P-Phone using your phone number.
Instantly make calls, send messages, and locate your primary device.
A built-in Maps feature provides directions without needing your primary phone. You can share your location. If a photo opportunity arises when you only have the P-Phone, use its camera; the photo is added to your main phone's gallery. The P-Phone employs end-to-end encryption for secure messaging.
66% of Americans experience "nomophobia," the fear of being without a phone. This explains why low battery life causes anxiety. Annually, 70 million devices are lost or damaged.
The 5.3-ounce P-Phone can be stored in a glovebox or bag. Its OS includes Maps, Find My Phone, rideshare apps, and CashApp. If your main phone is lost before an appointment, you can arrange a rideshare. If your primary device is damaged beyond repair, CashApp can help you request funds from contacts to replace it.
The P-Phone has a 16-hour battery life. It comes in Midnight Black, Polar White, Crimson Red, Royal Blue, and Limited Edition Prism Rainbow.
The P-Phone has an MSRP of $299, with global shipping starting in January 2026. Kickstarter offers launch specials:
VIP Launch Special: $199 ($100 off)
Family Protocol (2-Pack): $390 ($208 off)
The P-Phone can be a holiday gift, despite shipping in January. Giving a P-Phone to important contacts can relieve anxiety about reaching them.
"We designed P-Phone to be a backup for the digital age. The idea came after losing my phone and realizing I could not contact my son. P-Phone is connectivity insurance, ensuring you are always able to reach the people who matter."
The P-Phone project has exceeded its $5,000 Kickstarter goal. 149 backers have pledged $27,875 with 27 days remaining.
