A recommendation suggests choosing the iPhone 17 over the Galaxy S26.

Samsung's poor choices for the Galaxy S26 lineup have made it very difficult for me to recommend these phones over other alternatives.
Similarities between phone models prompt the question of whether buying a Samsung is worthwhile.
There is likely a reason for the redesign.
Both Samsung and Apple have seemingly opted for larger camera modules on the backs of their flagship phones. Cameras and other components are likely located there to maintain a slim profile for the majority of the phone.
Reportedly, Samsung has reached the limits of what is possible with Li-ion batteries when creating the S26 Edge. It is believed that the phone's dimensions cannot be reduced any further while keeping the 4,200 mAh battery that the Edge is expected to have. Because of this, the larger rear camera module likely contains most of the phone's internal components.
However, one might ask if the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge and iPhone 17 Air are truly as slim as their marketing suggests. Regardless of the accuracy of their official measurements, the S26 Edge resembles the iPhone 17 Pro.
The S26 series is not visually appealing.
The Galaxy S26 phones are not very attractive. The rounded corners and the camera module on the back of the Ultra are unappealing.
For Android users, now might be the right moment to switch to the Apple ecosystem. Apple's three-year iPhone plan seems appealing, but Samsung needs to do more to spark interest.
When considering a next flagship phone, one may consider a OnePlus or Xiaomi phone over Samsung, provided there are no connectivity concerns. Exploring options outside of Android, such as the iPhone 17 series, may also be worthwhile, especially with Android's increasing restrictions on apps from outside the Google Play Store.
There is disappointment with the direction Samsung is taking with its flagship phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an appealing design, and Apple's foldable iPhone will face challenges in surpassing it.
