A rumor about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's camera has been refuted.

The truth behind Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra camera leaks.
Ice Universe, a well-known Samsung source, has revealed the S26 Ultra's detailed camera specifications, which contradict a recent leak suggesting a new 12MP telephoto sensor.
In a post on X, Ice Universe shared the finalized camera configuration for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which appears to be more in line with previous models than some rumors indicated. According to the post, the phone will include:
* 200MP main camera (f/1.4, 1/1.3-inch sensor, 0.6μm pixels)
* 50MP ultrawide (f/1.9, 1/2.52-inch sensor, 0.7μm pixels)
* 50MP 5x telephoto (f/2.9, 1/2.52-inch sensor, 0.7μm pixels)
* 10MP 3x telephoto (f/2.4, 1/3.94-inch sensor, 1.0μm pixels)
The 3x telephoto has been the focus of recent inaccurate reports. Some reports claimed Samsung would upgrade the 10MP zoom camera to a 12MP sensor. Ice Universe refuted this, clarifying that Samsung will not increase resolution, and the sensor will be slightly smaller (from 1/3.52-inch to 1/3.94-inch).
The leaker explained that a larger sensor isn’t feasible, citing CAD-based design files showing the S26 Ultra's body has slimmed to 7.9mm, compared to the S25 Ultra's 8.2mm thickness. He argues that the unchanged height of the camera bump at the 3x position confirms that Samsung didn’t redesign the space for a new sensor.
Ice Universe criticized other tipsters for sharing false information, urging fans to verify facts through logical reasoning. He also dismissed another claim that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would have a larger 5,400 mAh battery, stating that 5,000 mAh has been the determined value for a while.
If Ice Universe’s information holds true, three of the four rear cameras will utilize the same sensors as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The primary and 5x telephoto lenses will have wider apertures, which could allow more light in, improving low-light image quality.
These details contrast with a report claiming Samsung would replace the 10 MP telephoto sensor and introduce new adaptive photo-processing modes. Some software enhancements may still be implemented, but the hardware appears more standard.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to launch on February 25, 2026, at Samsung’s Unpacked event in San Francisco, so any changes will soon be revealed.
The phone may use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which could also enhance camera performance. Another rumored change is the return of the camera island, which might resolve the dust accumulation issue with the current design.
Even if the S26 Ultra only offers minor camera enhancements, it will likely remain one of the top camera phones, given the S25 Ultra already leads the Camera Score charts.
