Analysts disagree on what material Apple will use for its foldable iPhone.

Conflicting reports suggest Apple is experimenting with a unique blend of metals for its first foldable iPhone.
An earlier statement from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested the foldable iPhone hinge would be made of both stainless steel and titanium, and the body might be exclusively titanium. However, a report from Pu challenges this assertion.
Speculation suggests Apple's initial foldable iPhone will adopt a book-style design, featuring a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal screen. This implies the external display's size could be close to that of the iPhone mini, while the foldable screen might be similar in size to the iPad mini. Kuo also indicated previously that the iPhone may forgo Face ID in favor of Touch ID for authentication.
While a book-style iPhone may not be ideal, a clamshell design would be preferred. Nevertheless, there is a willingness to evaluate Apple's final product before making a decision.
