Apple has likely released the final beta version of iOS 26.

The stable version of iOS 26 is just weeks away.
Apple has released iOS 26 Beta 8, likely the last of the iOS 26 Beta versions. The initial iOS 26 Developer Beta appeared on June 9, following the WWDC Keynote. Apple typically launches the stable iOS version alongside the next iPhone series. This release might occur on Tuesday, September 16, a week after the rumored unveiling of the iPhone 17, though Apple hasn't confirmed this date.
The iPhone launch might coincide with the iOS 26 Release Candidate (RC). The stable iOS 26 release is a good opportunity to exit the Beta program and receive stable updates without needing to wipe your device. The plan is to leave the iOS 26 Beta upon the stable version's arrival and rejoin for the iOS 26.4 Beta, potentially featuring "Personal Siri."
Battery life improved between the first and seventh Betas. With the latest Beta, the Liquid Glass effect on the home screen seems reduced, though it remains prominent in the Control Center. Beta program subscribers can install the update via Settings > General > Software Update, following the on-screen instructions.
The iOS 26 Beta journey, from Beta 1 to Beta 8, was generally positive. A notable issue in July caused incoming calls to not trigger the ringtone on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. This bug persisted for 2-3 days until a subsequent Beta update. It highlighted the risks of using Beta software on a primary device.
The anticipation to test "Personal Siri" was high. However, prior to installing the iOS 26 Developer Beta 1, it was announced that the AI-driven Siri update was delayed. Further complicating matters, Google's recent event in New York City unveiled Magic Cue, a similar feature to "Personal Siri."
Magic Cue can access flight details from emails, calendars, and texts, much like "Personal Siri." The key difference is that Pixel 10 phones already have this capability, while "Personal Siri" is delayed until at least next spring.
Unlike iOS 18, which focused on Apple Intelligence, iOS 26 emphasizes redesigns, particularly the Liquid Glass UI. While Apple Intelligence isn't the main theme, the iOS 26 Beta showcased AI features like Live Translation, enabling real-time translated conversations.
Hold Assist, accessible via the More button during calls, monitors the line while on hold and notifies you upon the other party's return, allowing you to attend to other tasks. Google's "Hold for me," launched with the Pixel 6 in 2021, offers a similar function.
Users can now create polls in group chats and use call screening to identify unknown callers by requesting their name and reason for calling. There's also a new Games app, and Apple Maps learns user routes and provides alerts for significant delays.
iOS 26 is coming in just a few weeks.
