Apple is said to be reducing iPhone Air production, while other iPhone models are doing well.

Weak demand for the ultra-thin iPhone Air has led Apple to slash production of the device.
The iPhone Air measures just 5.6 mm in thickness, approximately 19% thinner than the iPhone 6, which was 6.9 mm thick. Introduced alongside the iPhone 6 Plus in 2014, the iPhone 6 was previously the thinnest iPhone model. The iPhone Air has an estimated all-day battery life, powered by either a 3149 mAh battery (eSIM-only) or a 3036 mAh battery (physical eSIM).
The rear camera is a 48MP Fusion Camera. Unlike the iPhone Pro versions, it lacks Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses, so ultra wide-angle shots aren't possible, and telephoto shots are limited to a 2x optical zoom. The iPhone Air has a starting price of $999, and it can be financed for $41.62 per month over two years.
According to a report from South Korea's The Elec, Apple is decreasing iPhone Air production because of lower-than-expected demand. A Mizuho Securities analyst suggests that Apple could reduce production by 1 million units. While the iPhone Air has been a disappointment, the other three models have been very popular with consumers.
Conversely, Apple is increasing iPhone 17 production by two million units. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may see production increases of one and four million units, respectively. Some analysts think consumers are favoring existing models instead of the iPhone Air.
Ironically, improvements to the standard iPhone 17 may be affecting iPhone Air sales. The base model now features a ProMotion display with a refresh rate between 1-120Hz. Also, video playback battery life on the iPhone 17 has increased significantly to 30 hours, a notable jump from the iPhone 16's 22 hours.
Currently, iPhone 17 orders are taking two to three weeks to ship in countries like the U.S., the U.K., France, China, Japan, and Switzerland.
Even though the iPhone Air sales might be below Apple's goals, it may still serve a purpose. The phone may have been created as a proof of concept, particularly given Bloomberg's description of the foldable iPhone as two iPhone Air units connected. Early indications suggested a foldable iPhone launch next year, but some reports now point to 2027 because Apple is still deciding on the hinge design and other components.
In our review, the iPhone Air received a score of 7.4 out of 10. We praised its "fast, bright, and vivid" screen and its slim design. However, we criticized its "weak and flat" mono speakers, rear camera, and tendency to overheat. The iPhone Air comes in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue.
