Apple may drop Qualcomm chips from the iPhone 18 Pro, potentially affecting future 5G speeds.

Apple's rumored switch to its own C2 modem for the iPhone 18 Pro could finally give the company full control over 5G performance.
The C2 chip is not Apple's initial effort to produce its own modem for cellular connections. The original version, the Apple C1, is present in the iPhone 16e, Apple's mid-tier smartphone. The C1 provides standard cellular connection capabilities; however, it is missing certain additional functionalities needed for a professional-level iPhone.
