Apple might rename its poorly-received iPhone model in an attempt to improve its image.

Apple may have a new type of premium material for the iPhone 17 cases and an intriguing new accessory.
A new material called TechWoven may be used for upcoming accessories. The material is believed to be manufactured from recycled plastics, possibly originating from plastic bottles. Newly surfaced images suggest that the cases will come in at least five color options:
Black
Brown
Blue
Green
Purple
Like previously seen case leaks, the TechWoven cases have lanyard cutouts. The packaging mentions a "Compatible with Crossbody Strap," which is new.
The packaging indicates that Apple might offer its own crossbody strap accessory. The name implies that it could be worn across the body but could also function as a wrist or neck lanyard.
A lanyard system would be a logical addition for Apple, given the success of similar products. Peak Design has a range of accessories for its Everyday Case, including its anchor link system. Samsung offers options like the Standing Grip Case for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring a sliding component for grip and stand functions.
Hopefully, Apple has learned from the issues with FineWoven and will release a first-party case that offers good value. If not, there are already many third-party accessories available, including lanyards and grips.
In other news, after a year of development, a new project called "Iconic Phones: Revolution at Your Fingertips" will be released in a few months. This coffee table book will explore the technological advancements of the 21st century. Follow the link for additional details.
