Apple's iPhone 20 could feature a major camera upgrade.

iPhone cameras may leap ahead of the competition with a brand-new image sensor.
Samsung is having difficulties developing the Galaxy S26 series and currently has no plans to use LOFIC technology. Because of this, Apple might be the first to implement this new technology.
LOFIC, or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is a sophisticated pixel design. It increases dynamic range by storing extra light and maintaining low noise. The sensor can then capture highly detailed images in both bright and dark areas, potentially matching the dynamic range of professional cinema cameras.
A camera hardware update would be a welcome change for Apple, and the iPhone 20 could be the perfect time to introduce it. Apple's cameras are generally good, but they haven't been the best available for some time. A new in-house sensor with innovative imaging technology could be the answer.
