Apple's new MagSafe battery may not be compatible with all phones, so use caution.
If you’ve been waiting for the return of the OG MagSafe battery, we have some bad news for you.
A promotional image advertising Apple's MagSafe accessories shows the new battery attached to an iPhone Air. Next to it are an iPhone 17 Pro and an iPhone 17. The battery appears too tall to fit on the back of either of the other devices due to the location of their cameras.
This is not Apple's first MagSafe battery. The original MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12 was launched in 2021 but discontinued two years later, when the iPhone 15 was introduced with USB-C. The company apparently didn't believe its newer phones needed extra power. However, this changed with the ultra-slim model. If you still desire a similar product, there are various third-party alternatives compatible with any smartphone.
I never liked external batteries, but MagSafe accessories improve the experience. Instead of carrying a pack and dealing with cables, you can attach it to the phone's back and enjoy additional power. I don't intend to purchase an iPhone Air, but I can see how the MagSafe Battery could become an essential accessory.
