Apple's new, ultra-slim iPhone Air has sold out in China due to high demand.

Pre-orders for the ultra-thin iPhone Air sold out within hours in China, helped by a new eSIM approval that finally lets iPhones go SIM-free in the country.
Reports indicate high demand for the iPhone Air immediately following the start of pre-orders. Within two hours of availability, several color options and storage configurations were listed as unavailable on Apple's online store and Tmall.
In China, the iPhone Air has a starting price of 7,999 yuan, or about $1,122.
The author expresses admiration for the iPhone Air's design, but is waiting for Apple to adopt silicon-carbon technology in order to produce a thin phone with a large battery.
