A report about the new iPhone models kicked off a huge rally in Apple's shares on Monday.
Apple has reduced iPhone Air production, but the phone's popularity has surpassed that of the iPhone 16 Plus. Apple has enhanced the base model this year, adding a ProMotion display with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz.
Apple's IPO on December 12, 1980, created millionaires, including Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, whose shares were valued at $217 million and $116 million, respectively. Other major beneficiaries included Mike Markkula ($203 million) and CEO Mike Scott ($95.5 million).
Arthur Rock and Rod Holt also gained significantly from the IPO. About 300 individuals reportedly became millionaires when Apple went public. Priced initially at $22, shares closed at $29 on the first trading day. Following five stock splits, including a 4-for-1 split in 2020, the initial IPO share price is equivalent to 10 cents today.
Apple's valuation now stands at $3.89 trillion. CEO Tim Cook holds about 3.28 million shares, or 0.021% of the company, worth an estimated $860 million to $900 million.
Vanguard is the largest stockholder with 9.5% of the company, followed by BlackRock with 7.7%. Chairman Arthur D. Levinson is the largest individual stockholder, owning 4.4 million shares valued at $1.1528 billion.
