AT&T claims to be ahead of T-Mobile in a key area of service.

AT&T is rubbing a decisive victory in T-Mobile's face.
AT&T is celebrating recent recognition from RootMetrics, which named it the top performer for the first half of 2025. Ookla also found AT&T Fiber to be the fastest fixed internet provider in the US during this period.
These announcements come as T-Mobile and Verizon have been promoting their own networks. AT&T is citing RootMetrics accolades, including Best Overall Wireless Network Performance, Most Reliable Wireless Network, Fastest Wireless Network, and Best Call Performance.
According to Ookla Speedtest data, AT&T provides the fastest internet and earns high consumer ratings.
The company has responded to rivals' claims by affirming its delivery of "unmatched connectivity to consumers, businesses, and first responders." AT&T also alluded to T-Mobile's claims, stating that its network covers 300,000 more square miles. AT&T claims its wireless network reaches 99 percent of the US population, though this has not been independently verified.
J.D. Power has also recognized AT&T for customer satisfaction among large enterprise and medium-sized business internet service clients.
Jenifer Robertson, EVP and GM at AT&T, stated in September 2025 that the company's mission is to be a connectivity provider that customers can trust.
While T-Mobile's acquisition of UScellular's wireless business will likely improve its coverage in rural areas, AT&T's larger coverage ensures its customers get signals in more locations. Furthermore, AT&T recently acquired 50MHz of spectrum from EchoStar, gaining assets that are essential for 5G capacity and coverage.
As a result, Verizon now has less mid-band spectrum than both AT&T and T-Mobile, which weakens its competitive position.
The strengthened position of AT&T may force T-Mobile and Verizon to compete on price and promotions, which could benefit consumers.
