AT&T is expanding its 5G network beyond phones.

5G network expansion includes vehicle connectivity starting with 2026 Toyota RAV4.
AT&T has been the connectivity provider for Toyota vehicles since 2020 and is now introducing AT&T 5G. Together with Toyota, advanced connectivity is being enabled for drivers and passengers.
– Matt Harden, associate vice president, AT&T Connected Solutions, October 13, 2025
The first Toyota to get this upgrade is the 2026 RAV4, with more Toyota and Lexus models to follow.
Upgrading to 5G is the next step for car connectivity, especially with 4G's expected shutdown. T-Mobile has indicated its eventual 4G shutdown, which will impact connected cars. AT&T and Verizon are expected to follow, so rolling out 5G in upcoming models is a smart decision.
While 4G isn’t disappearing immediately, cars last longer than phones. 5G ensures vehicles stay connected for years.
As connectivity is a core part of driving, carmakers and carriers are taking steps toward the future. Faster networks enable safety features, real-time updates, and connected driving.
The shift to 5G in cars is setting the stage for the next era of mobility.
