Be wary of prices that seem unrealistically low, as they likely are.

An AT&T subscriber finds out that he was lied to by a rep who got him to sign a new deal that didn't exist.
I've covered mobile devices for nearly two decades at PhoneArena, and there's one key takeaway: be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. A recent incident at Costco illustrates this perfectly. A shopper was approached by an AT&T representative at the store, which isn't unusual.
The representative offered the shopper new phones and a $30 monthly discount on their wireless service. Attracted by the offer, the shopper agreed. However, the following morning, the shopper decided to verify the details of the deal.
Upon contacting AT&T, the shopper discovered that the representative's offer would actually increase their monthly bill by $40, instead of decreasing it by $30. The customer immediately canceled the order. Since the new phones hadn't been delivered yet, another AT&T representative assured the customer of a full refund upon their return.
AT&T refunded $596, the amount charged at Costco. However, a separate $105 charge was not refunded. Despite the customer canceling due to the representative's misrepresentation, AT&T refused to reimburse this amount.
The customer disputed the charge with their bank, but was unsuccessful. Contacting Costco proved unhelpful, as they stated that they simply lease space to AT&T. The customer summarized the situation: "I spent almost two hours that Sunday giving them all my information for a new plan that turned out to be a lie, and now I'm out $105 for who knows what."
The customer advised others to "Please be careful out there. Always double-check any offers and call the company directly before you sign anything or commit to a new plan. Don't fall for a deal that seems too good to be true." This incident underscores the importance of verifying offers, especially those presented by sales representatives.
