Chrome's mobile apps can now summarize articles.

Powered by Gemini, Chrome now gives Android and iOS users the ability to see a summary of the content on every webpage.
The new Gemini overlay, available on the stable Android 16 version and the newest Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2, features a prompt where users can type questions for Gemini to answer. The "ask about page" button lets Gemini clarify or explain sections of a webpage or compare items. A "Summarize" button summarizes the webpage displayed.
To use this, open Chrome on a Pixel phone and visit a website. A long press of the power button opens the Gemini Overlay. Tap the Summarize button for a page summary. This function works on Chrome articles, Discover, and also summarizes Search results and Google News stories.
Above the Summarize button is the "Share screen with Live" feature. Tapping this allows Gemini Live to view the phone’s display, turning Gemini into a visual assistant. It can provide details about items in shopping apps or clarify directions, aiding in complicated assemblies.
The Summarize button is available on Android and iOS. On Android, access it as described above. On iOS, open Chrome and go to a website. On the left of the address bar, tap the icon resembling stacked paper with text and a "+". In the "Page tools" pop-up, select "Ask Gemini" to access the Gemini overlay. Then, press the Summarize button.
The Gemini app must be installed. Android users can install it from the Play Store via a provided link. iPhone users can install Gemini from the App Store using a link.
Gemini can be set as the default digital assistant, replacing Google Assistant, for more detailed responses. To do this, open the Gemini app, tap the profile icon, then go to Settings > Digital assistants from Google and choose Gemini.
