CLIVE BARKER'S HELLRAISER: REVIVAL Takes Us To The Scarlet Church With NSFW New Trailer - Fangoria
Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival launches October 8 for Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and will be available in two special editions: the standard edition, retailing for $39.99, and the deluxe edition, retailing for $49.99. Fans can also purchase special collector’s edition bundles through Boss Team Games, which feature a copy of the game along with special themed collectibles. The “Genesis Edition” ($130 USD) features the game, an exclusive trading card pack, and your very own Lament Configuration, from which you can choose the original version from the film or the new version designed for the game.
With how eye-wateringly gory the last few trailers have been, you might think that Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is skimping on the franchise's more, ahem, salacious themes. Thankfully, a very NSFW teaser for the brand new playable Steam demo from Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games proves that is definitely not the case:
Hitting consoles on October 8, FANGORIA newsstand cover star Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival delivers a terrifying new story in the legendary Hellraiser universe as players take on the role of Aidan, who must use the power of a mysterious puzzle box – the Genesis Configuration – to help his girlfriend Sunny’s escape from the otherworldly hellscape of the Labyrinth:
Battle for your love in an unholy war against Hell’s most deviant wretches, cultists and creatures with the infernal powers of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box and an arsenal of earthly weapons. But will you be able to hold onto your immortal soul against the malicious domination of Pinhead (voiced by series icon Doug Bradley)? Or will you succumb to your vices and suffer for eternity?
Per an official press release, the new trailer for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival (which we can't even show in full here without getting our wrists slapped by the Google gods – head to the official site for the Red Band trailer) peels the skin back further on one of the game's core antagonists: Marlowe and his sacred (or sacrilegious?) Scarlet Church. Backed by an army of unholy priests, deviants, and cultists, Marlowe seeks the Genesis Configuration puzzle box for his own devious ends. With every slice and drop of blood, the Scarlet Church recruits those bold enough – or foolish enough – to covet Hell’s blasphemous temptations and gifts.
In the brand-new Steam demo, players can dive into the mysterious hellscape of the Labyrinth and face off against the wicked Scarlet Church, which has taken the coveted Genesis Configuration into its possession. Oo-er indeed.
