The game was spectacularly ambitious at the time of its release, and an enormous cast of playable characters, brilliant story, and iconic villain all combined to make one of the undeniable high points in the series to date. So, the game returning in any guise is bound to bring plenty of attention, and the latest effort is a physical release that would look at home in any burgeoning collection.
As first reported by GoNintendo, Square Enix has revealed a series of 6 Final Fantasy “Mini Melody TV” toys, which essentially serve as mini CRTs that play the classic songs from the games when you turn them on. They are an exceptionally adorable physical offering, and they cover the first six games in the series.
The full list of products available as part of the new offering, as well as the soundtrack included, is as follows:
In sharing a brief statement about the new set, Square Enix said the following:
"The origins of Final Fantasy (I-VI) are packaged in a retro and minimalist CRT television-shaped toy. With the flick of a switch, LED lights illuminate the screen and the melodies of iconic songs stir your heart. This nostalgic toy, a fusion of pixel art and sound, brings back the moments when you gripped the controller back in the day. Collect all 6 types and enjoy!"
The individual boxes are going for a very reasonable $13 each, while you can also get the full set of six TVs for an equally reasonable $75. The only thing you might want to be aware of is that it's a Japanese store exclusive, so you will be paying a decent amount extra to get it shipped to countries in the West.
That comes ahead of a massive year for the Final Fantasy franchise, with the concluding part of the remake trilogy of the seventh game set to launch in early 2027. Add to that HD-2D turn-based JRPG Final Fantasy Resonance in October 2026, and fans should be very happy for some time to come.
