Gboard is improving its GIF search to help users find trendy content.

A new button on Gboard brings the most topical and trendy GIFs to you.
To send a GIF, choose from the available options and search for one to include. When the Gboard virtual keyboard appears, use the four-box icon.
Gboard beta version 16.3.2.821569955 includes a new button in the GIF menu's search bar, next to the clock icon for GIF history, per Android Authority. This button, featuring an upward-pointing trendline, displays a list of trending GIFs from Tenor, Gboard's GIF provider.
On a recent Thursday, suggested GIFs included Halloween-related images and those related to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays had just won Game 5 of the World Series, nearing their first title since 1992, before ultimately losing.
The trending GIF button has not yet appeared on one user's Pixel 6 Pro, despite having the correct Gboard version. The user anticipates using this feature to send GIFs that are current and popular.
Gboard has also added a "Flick" feature, which lets users swipe down on a key to display a symbol or number. To enable it, go to Gboard Settings, then Preferences, and then Shortcuts for "Flick keys to enter symbols." The symbol or number is the same as when "Touch & hold keys for symbols" is enabled.
For instance, instead of long-pressing the "R" key for an equal sign, swipe down on it. Proper execution is required to avoid glide typing. With practice, Flick can increase typing speed. Google has already released the feature widely. Flick sensitivity can also be adjusted in the Settings menu. Higher sensitivity may lead to accidental inputs.
Gboard has received several recent AI-powered updates, including automatic proofreading and typo correction. Users can also adjust the tone of a message to be more formal, casual, expressive, or concise. Font size on Gboard keys can now be adjusted from 85% to 200% of the default size. Finally, the period and comma keys can be removed to create a wider spacebar and a cleaner keyboard appearance.
