Gemini AI is now available in Android Auto, adding enhanced AI capabilities to vehicles.

Android Auto gets a big brain upgrade as Gemini takes the wheel.
Gemini now enables users to directly access Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Spotify. This allows them to view restaurant reviews, summarize locations, and cross-reference data from Gmail and Calendar, all hands-free.
Gemini Live offers interactive AI for drivers.
The update also includes Gemini Live, which allows users to initiate a conversation with the assistant by saying, “Hey Google, let’s talk.” Unlike the smartphone version, Gemini on Android Auto offers concise responses to reduce driver distraction.
Like Google Assistant, it can still send messages, manage music, and handle navigation using extensions. However, it now offers a more personal feel. Initial reports suggest the responses are more fluid and natural compared to the Assistant.
Future plans for Gemini in vehicles:
With over 250 million cars now compatible with Android Auto, Google's integration of Gemini is one of its largest AI implementations thus far. The assistant was previously expanded to phones, tablets, and Maps this year, and this update completes its integration into vehicles.
Currently, access is limited to a small group of beta users, with a wider release anticipated in the coming weeks after Google gathers initial feedback. Based on early reports, Gemini in Android Auto appears to be a significant enhancement to the driving experience.
