Gmail now has a feature that is useful for people who have ordered a new phone.

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Google adds a new category to Gmail's sidebar.
Google has announced a new "Purchases view" for Gmail that organizes users' online orders. This feature displays purchase and delivery updates in one location. Packages arriving within 24 hours will be highlighted in the primary inbox and in a summary card within purchase emails. The "Purchases view" is launching today on Gmail for mobile and web users globally, and it is only for personal Gmail accounts.
The Gmail sidebar will include a "Purchases view," just in time for holiday shopping. This view appears in the navigation menu, accessible via the hamburger icon in the top left. The Purchases view is rolling out today to mobile and web versions of Gmail worldwide, but it has not yet appeared on a Pixel 6 Pro or an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
To use this feature, make sure your personal Gmail account is open, as it is only for personal accounts. The Purchases view compiles emails related to online purchases, such as receipts, order numbers, and tracking details. Emails about purchases should appear here, and summary cards above the primary inbox will show orders arriving soon.
Updates are also coming to the Promotions category, allowing users to sort promotional emails by preferred brands and senders, including those they interact with most. Gmail will also highlight deals nearing expiration.
Users can maintain the current Promotions category arrangement, choosing to sort emails by "most recent" instead of "most relevant." The updated Promotions category will be available on mobile in the coming weeks for personal Gmail accounts.
With frequent online ordering, it is easy to lose track of purchases, making the Purchases view a helpful addition. Knowing when a package is arriving helps users monitor for potential theft. Also, it allows users to adjust schedules to be home for deliveries.
The updated Promotions category saves time by consolidating promotions from relevant companies. This eliminates the need to sift through numerous promotional emails.
Frequent online shoppers may find the Purchases view to be the first thing they check in Gmail. This is particularly true as consumers await new Pixel and iPhone orders and begin holiday shopping. The Purchases view and revised Promotions tab are designed to save users time.
