Google Finance is now using AI to help users choose stocks.

With the update, instead of spending hours finding your next winner, it could take you just minutes.
I'm pleased to report on the updated AI features now available on Google Finance. Financial analysis, which is used to project stock price fluctuations, is generally split into two categories. Fundamental analysis uses financial data to evaluate whether a stock's price is fair. If a stock's market price is lower than its predicted value, it is considered a buying opportunity. If the price exceeds its predicted value, it may be time to sell.
Technical analysis, the second method, involves forecasting stock trends by studying historical market activity. This includes using charts and patterns to inform stock and options trades. Ideally, patterns alone should inform investment choices, regardless of the underlying asset. With the recent Google Finance update, AI can answer questions about future events, and the answers can be incorporated into financial models.
AI can also help technical analysts save time. Google Finance's AI search allows users to instantly identify stocks that have crossed their 50-day moving average, potentially indicating a breakout.
In a blog post released on Thursday, Google demonstrated the new features by showing an example of a user asking "What will GDP growth be for 2025?". Drawing from prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket, where users trade on event outcomes, the response includes the likelihood of specific events occurring. The blog also showed results for a query about potential Fed interest rate decisions in December, with most participants anticipating a 25-basis point cut.
Stock prices often fluctuate significantly after quarterly earnings announcements. Last week, Google introduced a feature that delivers updates on these releases. Google Finance now features a visible "Upcoming earnings" calendar. By selecting a stock from a watchlist, users can view upcoming earnings releases and conference call schedules.
Listening to company executives during these calls is essential, and now live audio streams are available during the calls, along with real-time transcripts that remain accessible afterward. AI-generated summaries are also provided before, during, and after the call under the "At a glance" section, providing the latest news and analyst reactions. Access to timely data can be extremely valuable.
The same data used by hedge funds is now available to individual investors. Users can assess quarterly performance against previous results and against analyst expectations. Even if a company's financial results appear negative, exceeding forecasts can lead to gains for investors.
While a dedicated Google Finance app is not available, the website is fully functional on mobile browsers like Chrome. It can be accessed at www.google.com/finance. Anyone active in the stock market should explore these new features.
