Google is testing a fix for Gemini, which often prematurely interrupts user questions.

If Gemini confuses your long pause as the end of your question, you'll be happy to know that Google is working on a solution.
Typing questions on a phone's keyboard is an alternative to speaking, especially for longer inquiries. However, speaking into the microphone within the Gemini app, developed by Google, offers a hands-free method, accurately converting speech to text.
Gemini has a limitation; it requires users to speak at a consistent pace. The app interprets pauses as the end of a question, potentially cutting off users who hesitate.
Android Authority has reported that Google may address this issue, developing a feature that allows users to pause while speaking to Gemini. Version 16.42.61 of the Google app includes an option to keep the microphone active until the user manually deactivates it. Screenshots show a "Long press the mic to keep it open" prompt, indicating that the microphone will remain on until stopped.
When activated, the microphone icon transforms into a "stop" button. Tapping this button ends the recording and prompts Gemini to begin processing. These pauses do not affect Gemini Live, which enables ongoing conversations with the chatbot. The update also includes a new overlay input box for Gemini and a floating button for Gemini Live.
The release date of these potential changes is not yet known. Gemini is currently available on Android devices through the Google Play Store and on iPhones via the App Store.
Users of Google Assistant on Android devices can switch to Gemini by navigating to Settings > Apps > Assistant > Digital assistants from Google and selecting Gemini. Google has also enabled Gemini to set alarms and timers on Android phones through the Utilities extension within the app.
This extension allows Gemini to manage alarms, timers, and control device settings, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, flashlight, and volume. It can also open applications and take screenshots.
In other news, a book titled "Iconic Phones: Revolution at Your Fingertips" will soon be released, chronicling the technological revolution of the 21st century.
