Google Photos' new Android redesign simplifies photo editing.

A new carousel on the bottom of the app gives you quick access to your editing options.
Google is releasing a redesigned image editor for the Android Google Photos app. To access it, select a photo in Google Photos and tap "Edit" at the bottom. A carousel with six options will appear: Auto, Actions, Markup, Filters, Lighting, and Color. Each option provides different editing tools.
Above the image are icons for Auto frame, aspect ratio options, a flip icon, and a rotate icon. The "X" exit button is in the top-left corner, while a Save button and a three-dot icon for feedback are on the right.
When editing a photo, you can tap, brush, or circle an area to edit. A menu appears with editing options. For instance, circling a squirrel provides options to Erase it, Move it, or Reimagine the photo using AI. When selecting Reimagine, you can enter a request, like adding a baseball cap to the squirrel.
The feature is rolling out on version 7.44 of Google Photos for Android via a server-side update. If you don't have it yet, go to Settings > Apps > See all apps, find Photos, tap Force stop on the App info page.
Google intends to add this new image editor to the iOS version of Google Photos in the future.
