Google's latest Pixel update enhances Maps, Photos, and Messages with new AI features.

The new update uses Gemini for some new and improved tricks
Google has unveiled its Pixel Drop for November 2025, which starts its rollout today, continuing its practice of enhancing its phones with new capabilities. The announcement details the features, which include Gemini AI-powered image editing and new power-saving options.
Remix in Messages lets users edit and reimagine photos in the app using the Gemini Nano model. (Available on Pixel 6+ and other Android devices in select English-speaking countries). A "Wicked: For Good" theme offers film-inspired wallpapers, icons, and sounds. (Available on Pixel 6+). Notification summaries provide on-device summaries of lengthy chat app conversations in the notification shade. (Available on Pixel 9+ (excluding 9a), English only). Scam detection in Messages now displays a "Likely scam" alert on chat notifications from popular apps. (Available on Pixel 6+ in the U.S.). Pixel VIPs upgrade prioritizes message notifications from VIP contacts and adds a "crisis badge" to the Contacts widget for critical alerts. (Available on Pixel 6+). Personalized edits in Photos allows users to use spoken commands to fix group shots using other photos in their gallery. (Available on all Android devices in the U.S.). Maps power saving mode activates a simplified layout that can save up to four hours of battery life when the power button is pressed while driving. (Available on Pixel 10 series only). Scam detection for phone calls expands to the U.K., Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada. (Available on Pixel 9+). Call notes uses Gemini Nano to record, transcribe, and summarize calls and expands to Australia, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and Japan. (Available on Pixel 9+ (excluding 9a)). Magic cue delivers more timely suggestions using new cloud-based "Private AI Compute" technology. (Available on Pixel 10 series).
Pixel Drops are Google's method for keeping its devices up-to-date long after their initial release. Unlike competitors who often wait for major OS updates, Google's quarterly drops offer consistent utility.
This update focuses on generative AI, particularly with the Remix and Summary features, integrating its Gemini models into the user experience. The enhanced Scam Detection feature extends to third-party chat applications.
Features addressing everyday problems stand out. Notification Summaries could be useful for busy group chats. Similarly, Call Notes offer an automatic transcript and summary.
The improved Scam Detection for messages is also useful. "Personalized Edits" in Photos is intriguing. The Maps power-saving mode and Magic Cue, exclusive to the Pixel 10, seem more like hardware features.
Future Pixel Feature Drops could improve features.
