After Ubisoft revealed a remake for the classic title Heroes of Might and Magic III, the company released the original version on Valve's platform. Part of the celebrations included releasing the original version of the game on Steam, which people can pick up for a cool $10. As you might imagine, the reviews for Heroes of Might and Magic III on Steam have been pretty damning, dragging the game down to a 'Mostly Negative' rating.
If you ever beat yourself up after forgetting something at home, you can take solace in the fact that you didn't forget actually to upload a game when releasing a title on Steam. After Ubisoft revealed a remake for the classic title Heroes of Might and Magic III, the company released the original version on Valve's platform. Unfortunately, anyone who bought the game was given an executable that displayed a Command Prompt message and nothing else.
As spotted by PC Gamer, Ubisoft has been trying to amp people up after it recently announced a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III, set for release in 2027. Part of the celebrations included releasing the original version of the game on Steam, which people can pick up for a cool $10.
Unfortunately, early buyers were in for a shock. Alarm bells began ringing in people's minds when Steam listed the game as only 23.49 kilobytes big. Once downloaded, players received only the executable file for the game, which, when double-clicked, opened a Command Prompt window telling them to "ensure that [they're] on the right Steam branch." Yes, it seems someone at Ubisoft uploaded only the game's executable, which doesn't do much if it has nothing to execute.
As you might imagine, the reviews for Heroes of Might and Magic III on Steam have been pretty damning, dragging the game down to a 'Mostly Negative' rating. The positive ratings also mention the executable issue but refuse to vote against such a classic title. Hopefully Ubisoft manages to locate and rectify this issue; the excitement for the remake may fizzle out before it has a chance to take off properly.
These are some of the best PC games history has to offer.
