Honor is releasing a phone with a pop-out camera, nicknamed the "Robot Phone," early next year.

If you’re not happy with just AI features, Honor has a device with a built-in robotic arm for you.
Honor has presented a Robot Phone concept device, but has not displayed actual hardware. The company instead released a teaser video, seemingly created using AI-generated visuals. In the video, the device resembles a standard, albeit thick, smartphone, particularly when its robotic arm is folded on the rear.
The Robot Phone features an alpha symbol on its back, instead of Honor's logo. The alpha symbol alludes to Honor's "Alpha Plan" for AI leadership, which the company announced at this year's MWC.
The device appears to be a combination of a phone and a DJI Osmo Pocket, with enhanced processing capabilities. In the promotional video, the camera gives the impression of an animated character, observing and reacting to the environment.
Honor envisions the Robot Phone as more than a tool, suggesting it could function as a responsive emotional companion. The company hopes it will become an emotional companion that uses sensors, adapts, and learns on its own like a robot, improving users’ lives with love, happiness, and knowledge, according to Honor in October 2025.
Further device specifics are not yet available. Honor plans to share more information at MWC 2026, but it has not confirmed whether it will be a concept demonstration or a product release.
While an AI-powered gimbal companion is not necessarily desirable, Honor's concept is interesting. Given the company is only presenting a CGI video, likely AI-generated, there are reasons to doubt its feasibility. A Robot Phone is unlikely in the near future, but it would be great to test it whenever Honor is prepared.
