iOS 26.1 has been released, featuring a Liquid Glass toggle and measures to prevent accidental photo captures.

The new iOS 26.1 update also includes several more improvements and bug fixes.
The latest iOS 26.1 update for iPhones introduces a slider to dismiss alarms and timers. This feature may remind some users of the "Slide to Unlock" function from the original 2007 iPhone, which was discontinued in iOS 10. Some users may still prefer a dedicated "Stop" button for quicker deactivation.
The update also includes a setting to prevent accidental camera activation. Users can now disable the swipe-left gesture on the lock screen that opens the camera by going to Settings > Camera > Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera and turning off the toggle. The default setting has the toggle on. Note that shortcut buttons are available on the lockscreen and can be customized.
iOS 26.1 expands language support for Apple Intelligence to include Chinese (traditional), Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. AirPods Live Translation, initially launched with iOS 26 on specific AirPods models with support for certain languages, now supports Chinese (Mandarin simplified and traditional), Italian, Japanese, and Korean.
The Apple TV app icon is updated, and the service is renamed from Apple TV+ to Apple TV. In Settings > General, a new Local Capture option allows users to change the storage location for captured files and choose audio-only recording.
Additional features in iOS 26.1, according to Apple's release notes:
* A Liquid Glass setting to select between a clear look or a tinted look for apps and notifications on the Lock Screen.
* AirPods Live Translation support for Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Italian.
* Apple Music MiniPlayer swipe gesture for track navigation.
* Apple Music AutoMix support over AirPlay.
* Gain control for external USB microphones during local capture.
* Option to save local capture files to a specific location.
* Manual workout logging directly from the Fitness app.
* Camera setting to enable/disable Lock Screen swipe to open Camera.
* Improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth.
* Communication Safety and Web content filters enabled by default for child accounts (ages 13-17).
To install iOS 26.1, go to Settings > General > Software Updates and follow the instructions. The update is available for iPhone 11 and later, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE. This update also provides bug fixes.
