Leaked images reveal the potential design of Huawei's upcoming Mate 80 series.

Leaked photos suggest Pro models get a fresh camera layout.
This could be the forthcoming Mate 80 Pro, according to DirectorShiGuan.
The triple-camera system is now arranged in a triangle, with the top lens most likely a periscope telephoto lens and the two below serving as the primary and ultrawide lenses. On either side are two LED flash modules, all housed in a metal-look ring that adds a high-end feel to the camera area. An additional sensor, perhaps for color or light, is located next to the flashes, though its function is yet unknown.
This updated triangular design seems more polished and may allow for better optics than the Mate 70 Pro's square camera arrangement with four lenses.
The leaked images also reveal two color options such as bright yellow and black, with more colors expected at launch. The phone's overall appearance, save for the updated camera island, is very similar to last year's model.
Another image suggests the standard Mate 80 will have a slightly different rear design, implying the new camera layout will be exclusive to Pro versions. Huawei Central provided the first glimpse at the Mate 80 series camera bump.
What to anticipate from the new series:
The Mate 80 series is expected to include the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, and Mate 80 Pro+. There are rumors of up to 100W fast charging, new Kirin CPUs, and the possibility of an integrated cooling fan on one of the models. Huawei is also reportedly working on a high-end Mate 80 RS variant with a titanium frame and a dual-layer OLED display.
These phones are poised to be powerful successors to the Mate 70 line, and they will undoubtedly attract notice in China when they are released.
However, international enthusiasts should temper their expectations. The new phones, like the Mate 70 series, are unlikely to include US-made components or support standard Android apps, so importing one may not be ideal unless you are prepared for software limits.
Huawei's timing is particularly difficult.
When the Mate 80 series debuts, it will enter a competitive flagship market in China. Huawei is re-entering a highly competitive arena with the forthcoming OnePlus 15 and the recently released Xiaomi 16 series. The issue now is whether the Mate 80's updated camera layout and purported performance enhancements will be enough to set it apart.
