Many people are still frustrated with home internet despite having numerous options.

Poll data reveals a deep dissatisfaction with the current state of home broadband.
Verizon is working to improve its home internet service, but a recent survey indicates that many consumers believe major providers still have progress to make.
Verizon recently purchased Starry, a fixed wireless broadband company. This acquisition will enable Verizon to expand its 5G Home Internet service by utilizing Starry's existing infrastructure, particularly in densely populated areas where signal strength can be an issue.
Instead of starting from scratch, Verizon has acquired a company that has already established a network. This acquisition strengthens Verizon's position in the competitive home internet market, enhancing its offerings to compete with T-Mobile and AT&T. This should benefit consumers seeking more choices.
However, a recent poll reveals a sense of dissatisfaction. When asked which carrier is most effectively improving home internet, Verizon received 26% of the vote. However, 40% of over 450 respondents stated that all carriers need improvement.
This suggests widespread dissatisfaction. Despite gains made by T-Mobile (23.5%) and AT&T, many consumers feel limited by slow, unreliable, or expensive internet. Network infrastructure development is a slow and costly process, and a single acquisition cannot immediately resolve years of poor service or high prices for many consumers. This highlights the conflict between a company's long-term goals and customers' immediate demands.
While Verizon's move is beneficial for competition, it also highlights how far the industry is from meeting customer expectations.
The poll results indicate that incremental improvements are insufficient. Customers desire noticeable improvements in their daily service, not just announcements of corporate acquisitions.
Verizon's broadband move will be closely watched by T-Mobile and AT&T. Mint Mobile has launched a new MINTernet home internet service to compete with major cable providers.
