Nothing is rolling out its Android 16 beta to more phone models.

The open beta is now available to more of the company's budget phones.
Nothing has released the Open Beta of Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, for Nothing Phone (3a) users. The update offers new lock screen features and a distinct camera setting for users to test.
Those with a Nothing Phone (3a) or (3a) Pro can now experience the upcoming software. Nothing has launched the Open Beta for Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16. This is not the final version, but it allows users to explore new features and assist in fixing bugs before the official launch.
The update includes key changes, especially for the camera and lock screen. These changes were detailed when the beta was initially announced, but here is a summary of the new features.
New Nothing icon design: The company describes it as a more refined visual style.
"Stretch" Camera Preset: This new camera filter, created with photographer Jordan Hemingway, provides a cinematic look to photos with enhanced shadows and highlights.
Lock Glimpse: This feature adds curated wallpapers to the lock screen and provides relevant updates, similar to Google's 'At a Glance' widget. It is disabled by default.
Installing the update requires a few steps, as outlined by Nothing, but is simple if the instructions are followed. Users should back up their data first, as this is a beta version.
Confirm the Phone (3a) has the latest stable build (V3.2-251013-1406 for both models).

Initially, Nothing OS was mainly a stylistic overlay with a dot-matrix font and monochrome icons over stock Android. Now, Nothing is developing its own set of useful features, competing with major brands.
This update indicates Nothing's shift towards a more comprehensive software experience, potentially attracting users from other brands.
Nothing's approach is notable, as the Android market often sees manufacturers pushing their own apps and services. Nothing is taking a different approach.
Those with a Phone (3a) may want to try this beta. Nothing OS seems to be evolving into a meaningful alternative to other Android interfaces, focusing on user choice.
Nothing OS 4.0 open beta is expected to arrive soon with an emphasis on transparent AI.
