OnePlus 15's features suggest that phones don't need to excel in every area to be successful.

If a device doesn't knock your socks off, just don't buy it.
The OnePlus 15 stirred controversy upon release, but perhaps undeservedly.
Despite being a quality Android phone, with exceptional battery performance, the latest device from the manufacturer received criticism from a segment of users, due to certain component changes.
The list of changes includes a perceived step down in camera quality compared to the OnePlus 13. Specifically, the main camera sensor was changed from the LYT-T808 to the IMX906, the ultrawide received an OmniVision OV50D sensor, and the telephoto uses a Samsung JN5 sensor.
Further areas where the OnePlus 15 is considered by some to be a downgrade are the display resolution, a smaller bottom speaker area, a slightly smaller haptics motor, one less microphone, and a smaller NFC area, or so online chatter suggests.
However, these modifications are not major setbacks. Having used both phones, these alterations do not negatively impact daily use.
The camera performs just as well as its predecessor. It even scored slightly higher in testing and produces more natural-looking images, with less artificial sharpening.
The haptics remain excellent, the speakers sound full, and using Google Wallet works without issue. The overall user experience is unchanged, and the OnePlus 13 isn't superior.
The battery life of the OnePlus 15 is a welcome improvement. It reliably lasts for two days, even with heavy use.
It's acceptable for Android phones to not excel in every area, unlike the iPhone Pro Max, which must deliver top-tier performance across the board.
Android offers a range of choices, with different brands catering to diverse consumer needs. Personal priorities vary, and that's perfectly reasonable.
Consumers are not limited to a single device. If a product is unsatisfactory, alternatives are readily available.
The OnePlus 15 shouldn't be criticized solely for a change in camera sensor, especially when it doesn't negatively affect performance in practical use, and is only noticed by detail-oriented users.
The OnePlus 15 is a decent phone, though not perfect.
The true issue isn't the hardware or perceived downgrades.
The core issue with the OnePlus 15 is the Oppo Find X9 Pro. The Find X9 Pro is a superior device that serves as the basis for the OnePlus 15, but it is more expensive and harder to obtain.
It boasts a better camera, though with slightly reduced battery life, resulting in a more refined product.
As someone who has reviewed the Find X9 Pro, I hoped for the OnePlus 15 to match that level of quality. The Oppo Find X9 Pro represents the potential of the OnePlus 15, but OnePlus devices may never rival their Oppo counterparts. This sets a future expectation for OnePlus as a company.
