OnePlus is releasing its Android 16 update early, but with some limitations.

OnePlus has revealed its next major software update after some initial hints. The OxygenOS 16 Open Beta program has been released, providing select users with an early look at Android 16. This is often an exciting period for tech enthusiasts who want to experience the newest features and design improvements.

However, there are several considerations before updating. This initial release is a beta version, meaning it is not the finalized software. Users should anticipate some bugs and performance issues.

OnePlus 13s (build CPH2723_15.0.2.601(EX01))

OnePlus 13R (build CPH2691_15.0.0.850(EX01) / 860(EX01))

OnePlus 12 (build CPH2573_15.0.0.850(EX01) / 860(EX01))

OnePlus 12R (build CPH2585_15.0.0.850(EX01) / 860(EX01))

OnePlus Open (build CPH2551_15.0.0.851(EX01) / 860(EX01))

Currently, only users in India can apply for the program. The public release is scheduled for October 16, just a few days from now.

Those in India can apply for the beta by going to Settings > About device > Up to date. In that section, they can choose "Beta program" in the top-right corner and follow the prompts to apply. Once approved, return to Settings > About device, and tap "Download now" to install the update. Applications are open from today through October 13th and will only work on the listed builds.

While it's positive to see OnePlus progressing, the open beta is currently limited to India. Keep in mind that beta software should not be installed on a primary device. Using beta software on a frequently used device carries risk, as app compatibility may be problematic, and battery performance may suffer.

However, for those comfortable with experimentation, this is an opportunity to test the new AI features and UI changes coming to the final OxygenOS 16 version.
