Perplexity has released its AI-powered Comet Browser for Android devices.

Now available for free from the Play Store is the Comet Browser powered by AI.
Comet is a new AI-centered mobile browser, unlike Chrome and Edge which use AI as an extension. Interacting with the AI prompt is the primary method for using Comet, and its key feature is the Comet Assistant, which functions as an Agentic AI Assistant to perform tasks for the user.
For instance, users can ask Comet to research the most affordable airline tickets to Paris for the upcoming month or to assess the best value among three guitars being considered. It can also summarize a lengthy PDF report and then email it to a manager.
Comet uses Perplexity AI as its default search engine, which provides answers to questions with cited sources, rather than a list of links like Google Search. The browser's voice control enables hands-free searching, navigation, and general use. Comet can also schedule events and organize Gmail inboxes by connecting to apps like Gmail and Google Calendar.
The Comet: AI Browser has a 4.4 average rating on the Play Store, based on 1,470 user reviews after its first day. The Perplexity app is also available for iOS users on the App Store.
When the Comet Browser was initially released for desktop computers in July, access required either a Perplexity plan that cost money or joining a waiting list. Fortunately, Perplexity eliminated this requirement last month, offering the Android version to users at no cost.
