Reportedly, the base model of the upcoming iPhone 17 will be the most cost-effective option.

The iPhone 17 lineup is here and despite rumors indicating price hikes, the base iPhone 17 is a great deal, and the iPhone 17 Pro starts at 256GB to justify the price. The iPhone Air sits in a peculiar position, though.
The iPhone 17 is now a great value. It features a 120Hz ProMotion display, formerly exclusive to Pro iPhones, and doubles the base storage from 128GB to 256GB, while maintaining the iPhone 16's launch price.
The iPhone 16 originally cost $799 for the 128GB model (the 256GB version was $899), making the iPhone 17 effectively $100 less expensive.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max now offers a new 2 TB storage option, pushing its price into MacBook range.
The iPhone Air, a new slim model intended to compete with the Galaxy S25 Edge (starting at $1099.99), replaces the Plus and starts at $999. This makes it cheaper than the Edge, though the reduced battery might deter some buyers.
The 2 TB iPhone 17 Pro Max costs as much as a 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage and 24 GB of RAM. It will be interesting to see who needs that much storage.
