Reports suggest what Apple might release after the iPhone 17.

A new report details M5 Macs, an updated Vision Pro, and a major push into the smart home ecosystem.
What can we expect from Apple over the next year?
Just as you catch your breath, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has shared the latest "Power On" newsletter, filled with information on Apple's plans for late 2025 and early 2026. While routine product updates are expected, the main focus is Apple's increased dedication to growing its reach into new markets.
Apple's Future Product Plans
According to Gurman, here's what to watch for:
iPad Pro with M5: Possibly arriving as early as October 2025.
iPhone 17e: A successor to the iPhone 16e, featuring the A19 chip also found in the iPhone 17, expected in the first half of next year.
Mac external monitor: A follow-up to the Pro Display XDR and the Mac Studio Display, potentially launching either late this year or early next year.
Vision Pro & AirTag 2 Updates: A minor upgrade for the headset and an improved tracker initially, followed by a more significant Vision Pro 2 in 2027.
M5-equipped MacBooks: Both the MacBook Pro and Air are scheduled for updates by early 2026.
Revamped Apple TV & HomePod mini: Enhanced chips and improved Siri integration.
Smart Home Hub: Apple's first significant hardware release in this area, anticipated in Spring 2026.
Why this product push matters
This isn't just about updated processors, it's about Apple addressing some major gaps in its offerings. The most notable is the dedicated smart home hub. Apple's HomeKit has lagged behind Google Home and Amazon Alexa. A first-party hub, enhanced by on-device Siri, could be what's needed to establish Apple as a compelling and private smart home choice.
The Vision Pro update appears to be more of a subtle improvement. A faster chip and a different head strap won’t solve the fundamental problems of weight and cost. This suggests Apple is planning for the long-term, improving the technology while awaiting a true second-generation advancement.
While a new M5 MacBook Pro is welcome, the smart home hub is the key product to watch. If Apple can create a central device that is seamless, private, and user-friendly, it could become a major player in the smart home market.
Regarding the updated Vision Pro, it remains unappealing. The first-generation model was not a purchase, and a refreshed version is also skippable. It remains too expensive, heavy, and awkward to gain mainstream appeal, and a minor spec increase won't change that. Until Apple releases a lighter, more comfortable, and affordable version, it will remain a niche product.
