NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 is vanishing from shelves at major US retailers, while remaining stock is being listed at prices far beyond the graphics card's $1,999 MSRP. A third-party listing has breached the $10,000 mark, with many listings in the $8,000-$9,000 range, underscoring how difficult it has become to secure NVIDIA's flagship consumer GPU at its official price.
The RTX 5090's pricing issues aren't limited to the US, either. We recently reported that prices for the flagship GPU in Europe have climbed beyond €5,000, more than double its MSRP.
Some RTX 5090 models on Newegg from third-party vendors are reportedly listed for between $6,549 (MSI Ventus 3X) and $9,300 (ZOTAC ARCTICSTORM AIO). Note that these listing prices are subject to change. If you stick to options directly sold by Newegg, you'll be limited to bundles, particularly the ASUS 20th Anniversary Combo, and pre-built systems.
Meanwhile, Best Buy has the RTX 5090 completely out of stock, with the most expensive out-of-stock listing as high as $7,500 for the GIGABYTE Gaming OC variant. We recently covered how pallets of brand-new RTX 5090s were ending up in AI rigs instead of gaming PCs, which is likely another driving factor behind these price hikes.
According to PCPartPicker, RTX 5090 listings on Amazon are currently ranging from around $6,300 to as high as $11,500 for the Inno3D X3 OC variant. These listings appear to be available only in limited quantities, further highlighting the scarcity of NVIDIA's flagship GPU.
The steep prices appear to be driven largely by the RTX 5090's limited availability rather than any official price increase from NVIDIA. As supplies dry up at major retailers, third-party sellers have an opportunity to charge substantial premiums, with some marketplace listings reaching several times the GPU's $1,999 MSRP.
Enthusiasts and high-end PC builders still looking for NVIDIA's flagship GPU are left with fewer options, while constrained supply keeps prices well above their intended level.

A major factor driving these price increases is the AI race. The growing demand for high-end hardware is putting substantial pressure on the market. With continuously rising prices, it is obvious that AI enthusiasts are buying these GPUs in large quantities, and the current landscape leaves gamers competing for an increasingly limited pool of cards.
