Samsung isn't the only competitor in the foldable market. Apple is expected to release its first foldable iPhone in 2026, along with the iPhone 18 Pro series.
Apple aims to create a foldable device without a crease. The company will reportedly use a specially treated liquid metal alloy and a unique hinge design to achieve this. The device is rumored to have a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer screen, two rear cameras, approximately 12 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of storage. The battery may have a capacity of 5,000–5,500 mAh.
However, the phone may feature a dual-camera system, instead of the triple-camera setup found in the Pro and Pro Max models. This means it would lack a dedicated telephoto lens, which could affect zoom quality compared to foldables like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Performance is expected to be strong, with the new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2 nm process for increased speed and efficiency.
Oppo is also preparing to launch the Find N6, which is rumored to be even thinner than the Oppo Find N5.
The Find N5 is durable, fast, elegant, and capable. It feels sturdy, despite its thinness when folded. The Find N6 might be even slimmer, potentially less than 4.2 mm when unfolded.
In addition to its thin design, the screens may be larger, with an inner panel exceeding 8.1 inches and an outer display around 6.6 inches. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset is anticipated to deliver high-end performance.
The battery capacity could exceed 6,000 mAh, and the camera setup may include a larger main sensor, a 50MP periscope lens, and a multispectral sensor for improved color accuracy.
It may be tempting to purchase current models like the Z Fold 7 and the Find N5, but 2026 could be an important year for foldable phones.
Consider waiting a few months for the next-generation models to be released, as the prices of current phones will likely decrease.
