Samsung ends support for two Galaxy watches - Android Police
Samsung made a promise and kept it, but unfortunately for those with the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, it means the end of support for their smartwatches. Samsung said that the Wear OS-powered watches would get four generations of updates, and they have: Wear OS 3.5/One UI Watch 4.5, Wear OS 4/One UI 5 Watch, Wear OS 5/One UI 6 Watch, and the final Wear OS 6/One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 4. Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 this summer.

But now Samsung has released its September 2026 security bulletin and the two watches are not in it.
I turned off Raise to Wake on my Galaxy Watch, and it fixed my biggest gripe
It’s not a surprise that Samsung would stick to its word, but it is notable in that the Galaxy Watch 4 series was the first one that adopted Wear OS over Samsung’s proprietary Tizen. Tizen-powered watches lost their support last September.
The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic won’t stop working now that they’re not getting updates, but they will miss out on security and software updates.
Of course, there are new models of Samsung Galaxy Watches waiting in the wings. Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 this summer.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 “looks modern, fun, and unlike any other smartwatch available,” according to AP writer Andy Boxall. It has the same reinvented design of the squircle-shaped Galaxy Watch 8, but is powered by a processor that packs more punch, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Boxall found that for those who want the hardcore trail running and diving features it offers, it’s the right choice, but that everyone else will be served just as well by buying a Galaxy Watch 9.
