Samsung may not release a Galaxy S26 Edge with a large battery.

Samsung won’t move forward with its batteries, but the Galaxy S26 Edge may still be a big improvement over the S25 Edge.
The Galaxy S26 Edge is generating buzz due to reports that Samsung intends to launch it sooner than the previous model. Sources say the company plans to replace the Galaxy Plus model with this ultra-slim flagship, releasing it with the other Galaxy S26 phones early next year.
The S26 Edge may have a rival in the iPhone 17 Air, also rumored to be extremely thin, possibly only 5.5 mm thick.
To achieve this thinness, Apple might use a smaller 2,900 mAh battery in the 17 Air, depending on AI-based power management in iOS 26 to optimize battery life.
In comparison, the Galaxy S26 Edge battery could be much larger. Samsung is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (possibly named Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) and reduce the device's thickness by up to 0.3 mm, matching the rumored thinness of the iPhone 17 Air.
Despite some reservations about the slim smartphone trend, the rumored features of the Galaxy S26 Edge suggest it could be a top-tier device. Fitting a 4,200 mAh battery and managing a high-performance mobile chip in a slim design would be an impressive achievement.
