Samsung might revive a popular Galaxy A mid-range phone from the past.

A new Galaxy A device showed up on Geekbench, revealing a change of plans for Samsung.
A Geekbench listing has appeared for a device possibly identified as the Galaxy A77.
The tested device uses an unreleased Exynos chipset featuring a CPU with ten cores and an Xclipse 940 GPU. As this GPU is also present in the Exynos 2400 and 2400e chipsets, Samsung may be planning to release a mid-tier device that emphasizes graphics capabilities.
This could be Samsung’s highest-performing mid-range device to date.
The Geekbench test was conducted on a device equipped with 8 GB of RAM and running Android 16, indicating it is a mid-range model. However, its benchmark scores are higher than those of the Galaxy A56, which is currently the top-performing Galaxy A series phone. It remains to be seen how the device's price and performance will position it between the speculated Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy S25 FE.
Samsung has not yet made any official announcements, but the device is likely to be released with the Galaxy A57 in the spring of 2026. This would place it in competition with the iPhone 17e and the Pixel 10A, which are also anticipated to launch around the same time.
After Samsung stopped producing the Galaxy A7x line, it was believed to be an effort to simplify its extensive product range. With flagship smartphones expected to become more costly, there could be more room in the upper mid-range market segment. Therefore, it is not surprising that Samsung aims to capitalize on this opportunity.
