Samsung might still include a well-known processor in the Galaxy S26 lineup.

You may have thought you already knew everything there is to know about the Galaxy S26 family members, but Samsung reportedly has one last surprise up its sleeve.
According to Korean media reports, a significant development may occur. This aligns with previous reports from a few months ago. Samsung was reportedly caught off guard, leading them to revive a product line that was considered discontinued.
The company had hoped for increased popularity of the S25 Edge after initial sales figures were disappointing. However, despite Samsung's efforts to improve the appeal of the 6.7-inch phone through discounts, this did not occur.
While global sales numbers have not been released since its May launch, Samsung is planning to produce around 300,000 Galaxy S25 Edge units between September and December. This is a modest amount compared to the 2.9 and 3.4 million units planned for the standard S25 and S25 Ultra during the same period. Notably, this is less than the 500,000 production goal for the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Given the S25 Edge's lower popularity compared to the S25 Plus, creating a Galaxy S26 Edge sequel for both models may not be logical.
The "M Plus," the internal codename for a fourth Galaxy S26 model, may be introduced. This would join the M1 (S26 Pro), M2 (S26 Edge), and M3 (S26 Ultra) in Samsung's product lineup.
Despite previous speculation about this super-slim flagship, this possibility is now worth considering. TheElec's sources suggest the S26 series could have "up to four models," implying that not all four models are guaranteed for release.
If Samsung decides to discontinue a Galaxy S26 model, the S26 Edge is the likely candidate, although the S26 Plus might also be under consideration.
Assuming the Galaxy S26 Plus and S26 Edge are both released, it will be interesting to see how Samsung differentiates them in terms of specs.
The Edge variant's design is likely to be the distinguishing feature. Hopefully, the resurrected Plus model will offer more than just a new processor compared to this year's Galaxy S25 Plus.
A four-member Galaxy S26 family would be welcome if executed well.
However, the S26 Pro might not significantly upgrade the standard S25. The S26 Edge and S26 Plus could be too similar, the S26 Edge is not expected to have a large battery, and the S26 Ultra's design may be worse than its predecessor.
Therefore, Samsung should prioritize quality over quantity by focusing on fewer S26 variants with more substantial upgrades.
