Samsung plans to bring its AI photo editing features from the Galaxy S24 to older phone models.

Content Credentials now tracks every AI edit you make in the Gallery app.

This initiative extends beyond Samsung, supported by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) and major tech companies like Adobe, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google. Samsung's involvement aims to promote Content Credentials as a universal standard for monitoring digital alterations.
The latest update introduces this functionality to all Samsung smartphones and tablets operating on Android 15 with One UI 7. It is currently being released.
Gallery app version 15.6.04.2 is required to access this feature. Once updated, a small logo will appear beside the "Contains AI-generated content" label when edits are made using the integrated AI tools. Tapping the logo will display a comprehensive summary of the changes applied to the photo.
The summary includes:
* The device employed to edit the image.
* The precise date and time of the edits.
* The specific AI tools utilized.
Because this information is embedded within the image's metadata, it is difficult to alter. This ensures the image's provenance, or proof of changes, remains uncompromised.
In an era where AI-generated photos are widespread, this is an important advancement in helping people understand the content they are viewing before sharing it and potentially spreading incorrect information. This is dependent on users checking the details.
Samsung is not alone in this endeavor. Google Photos is also developing a similar feature. It may soon include a "How was this made" section within the photo details view. By swiping up on a picture or video, users could see whether it was AI-generated or edited, providing more transparency about the content's origin.
Good news everyone! We are excited to announce that a passion project we have been working on for the past year will be released in a few short months.
