Samsung's One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S22 is now available, but it offers minimal changes.

The last major update for Galaxy S22 devices skips all the cool features.
The Galaxy S22 series will likely get its last major update in One UI 8. The phones came with Android 12 and a promise of four major updates, so it's unlikely they will be updated to Android 17 unless Samsung makes a change.
It's uncertain if One UI 8.5 will be released on the S22 series. Samsung is developing its next software based on Android 16, which the S22 should be able to support. However, this version will have a large visual update that could negatively affect older devices' performance.
Apple continues to update older phones. iOS 26, with its animation-heavy interface, is available for devices as old as the iPhone 11, released in 2019. Like Samsung, Apple restricts some iOS 26 features on older devices; Apple Intelligence is only available on iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
Samsung's One UI 8 rollout was notably successful. Hopefully, the company will continue to use the same process with One UI 8.5.
